a dance club in Heaven?
a dream I had a while back…
I don’t remember the beginning. At a hotel. Like a conference maybe. The idea was that the entry to Heaven was there, but was sort of like a rumor.
I was with some other dude and E, who could fully talk and was smoking a cigarette. He seemed to know all about this being the way to Heaven as well. I picked him up and was holding him, weirded out that he was smoking and talking like an adult. I was on my vow of silence, so I said noting.
We got in an elevator and the guy put his key or card in a slot – like people who live in the penthouse have – and either new buttons appeared on the wall to push, or he could just now push the top ones.
The elevator was part glass, so you could see outside of it, inside the hotel. There was a woman covered head to toe in black, only her eyes could be seen. She was on the balcony of her room. E asked, “Who is that?”
I said, “a pagan.” (I think.) I turned to April and we all laughed. It’s something I say lately about non-Believers. April was in and out of this dream.
We got to the top and the elevator opened up into a lobby. As I walked out, there were two doors with glass walls surrounding them. The first one you see represented Hell. People were wearing stylish red and black clothes and their hair was a gelled up. A receptionist-type person could also be seen, but he was a dude and looked up as we passed and stared as we went.
The next door was Heaven. As we walked in the door, a man behind the desk frustratingly said, “You guys do know what this place is right?” As if people were coming in and out not respecting Heaven’s rules.
I remember asking either the dude or E a couple times if it was okay that I was going to see Heaven, since, apparently, I was still alive. It seemed, looking back, that the dude and E were some kind of angels.
So we walked passed the man at the desk and came into a large, busy office. A large desk had papers everywhere on it and the area was a mess. To the left were two offices with glass walls with mini-blinds. I followed the dude into the second office, which was apparently the office of the “editor” or something like that, and it was a mess. I sort of remember him being gray-haired and wearing maybe an off-yellow dress shirt. I looked back at E and he was shaking his head like I shouldn’t be going in there.
I stopped and walked back over to E who told me I wasn’t presentable. I looked down and I was wearing a crinkly white button-up, which was wrinkled. For some reason, this didn’t feel like my shirt.
The dude walked out of the office. Either he said something to me I said something to him first, but I mentioned that I broke my vow of silence when talking to E about my shirt.
Then we walked through a large doorway, maybe like a garage door, into a wide walkway. Like a cave almost. The ground was powdery. Like snow at first glance, then I mentioned aloud that it was like a powdered donut and everyone who was near us laughed. People all wore something similar, like it was “theme day.” I remember most of them wearing white shirts and blue jean shorts.
A woman started walking with us. I didn’t know who she was. We must have been talking about the “offices” of Heaven and Hell being so close to one another and she mentioned that she interned at Hell for a year. We were kind of stunned and after a moment, she laughed and said she was kidding. Then spit her Icee in my face. Oh yea, random people seemed to have Icees now.
Me, the dude, the woman and E walked up to a second door, which felt like it was to a rave or club. Two chubby dudes and someone else I can’t remember sat at a brown folding table like they were the people to check you into this club. The two chubby guys I seemed to recognize from TV or something, but I’m not sure. One of them had glasses and an Icee was dripping from his head like someone just dumped an entire cup on him. He didn’t care. He was smiling.
I guess we were handed tickets or something. We turned to the entrance to the club and a bouncer or something handed me what I believed was an ecstasy pill. I just shoved it in my back pocket and followed the group. He may have said “You’ll need this” or “use this for later.” I can’t remember exactly.
We walked through the club and people dancing, like jumping up and down, no nasty grinding or anything. Another person stopped me and handed me a pill in a bag, with like a store label on it, like it hung on store shelves, and I stuffed it in my pocket as well. Maybe this was the part where I was told I’d need it. Not sure.
We got to a clearing in the club near a red bar-height table. I just started jumping up and down. Caught up in the music. It was a cross between a fast song and some 80′s song. I thought I must have taken one of those pills, but I didn’t. I turned to a second dude, who replaced E, who either started jumping around too or looked at me in amazement. I remember looking at the stage to the right and seeing a crowd of people, but only seeing their silhouettes.
The woman was now in a dated green business-type suit and looked older. Not crazy old, but years older than she was earlier. The first dude was staring at her and they started to kiss. Me and the second dude saw this and paid it no mind. The first dude was so amazed that he was kissing her, saying something like “God, I’m kissing her!” He seemed like someone who liked a girl forever and never thought he had a chance, but there it was.
The woman suddenly dropped or fainted or something and we helped her lie down under the bar table. The first dude was still stunned or something by his interaction with her, so I had to make sure she was under the table and safe.
The music then switched from the mix of the fast song and the 80′s song to just the 80′s song.
Then I woke up.
