“For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace.” (See Romans 8:6) Paul was telling every believer that he or she was no longer wrapped up in chains of bondage, but delivered and set free from the Law. Sin’s wholesale price had been dropped to zero by Jesus on the cross and we now walk in the spirit, not in the flesh. We now have the power to step on the head of fleshly, worldly, selfish instincts like a dirty snake and keep on going about our day with God. We have been empowered with the ability to refocus, rechannel, reprogram our minds to watch the “Spirit Station” and cancel our subscriptions to the “Flesh Network.” Believing and walking in the faith that Jesus Christ was better than, and put the smackdown on, sin will lead to eternal, joyous, peaceful living.
