“sin is off the menu” – Romans 6:14
“For sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under law but under grace.” (See Romans 6:14) Thank God for grace! Have you seen the laws they had to follow in the OT? Cattle for miles was burned up trying to amend for humanity’s wicked ways. And just because they BBQ’d the livestock for atonement, the sins weren’t forgotten, they were just wiped off of today’s to-do list. With grace, WITH JESUS, our sins are gone. Shake up the Etch-a-Sketch because all that past junk is dust in the wind. Scattered as far as the east is from the west. People may remember – and hold you accountable for the sinful deeds of yesteryear even after you’ve pulled a 180 – but God won’t. If you are a believer in Jesus Christ and have turned from sin, then sin’s power meter is drained. And Jesus sees that His sacrifice for you was sufficient to conquer anything you could ever throw at it. Should we then continue to sin now that grace has saved the believer? Not at all. It’s a moot point. If you are truly saved then sinning wouldn’t be on your agenda anyway. It’s like asking a vegetarian if they’re gonna eat the t-bone steak in the buffet line. That’s not even an option. Nope, it’s salad and veggies for them. Sin is no longer the slice of chocolate cake at the end of the line. It’s the two-day old pudding with the crusty top.
