“don’t pretzel the faith” – 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
“Rejoice always; C)’>give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” (See 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18) It’s hard to see all the good among the bad when we are constantly focused on the negative. Most traffic isn’t caused by the people in the crash, but by everyone else slowing down to look at them. We profess our dislike of the bad while at the same time celebrating it and – in a pretzel twist of our belief system – thank God “it didn’t happen to us.” (But it sure made our day more interesting, huh?) This thinking…not so Christ-like. We need to forsake the bad and the ideals which perpetuate it. We need to open up our peepers and see how much good our Lord has placed in this world for us. Start enjoying that and let that make your day more interesting. That’s something to rejoice! As far as “pray without ceasing” is concerned, yes, pray as often as possible. But, also know that your daily walk, if led by the Spirit, is a constant prayer/testimony sandwich to Him that says, “Thank You for the opportunity.” You’ve been given one. Make it count.
