Today, Starwars.com officially announced the casting of Michael Kenneth Williams in the upcoming Han Solo stand-alone film.  This announcement confirms Variety‘s report last week regarding the casting.

No additional details on Williams’ role have been released thus far.  Williams is most notable for his role as Omar Little in the critically acclaimed television series The Wire.  Williams brought a swagger, charisma, and joy to the role that was so unique that Little became known as arguably the best character in a show many consider to be the best TV show of all time.  Based on that role alone, I can see Williams as a perfect fit in Han Solo’s corner of the Galaxy Far, Far Away!
