Abrams says Star Wars: Episode VIII script is so good he wishes he was making it!
The Washington Post has a really interesting and encouraging comment from J.J. Abrams on Star Wars: Episode VIII, which will be directed by Rian Johnson. The Post talked to Greg Grunberg who said:
“He read it and said something he never, ever says,” Grunberg, who plays pilot Snap Wexley in the new film, tells The Post’s Comic Riffs. “He said: ‘It’s so good, I wish I were making it.’
“He may have said something one time on ‘Lost,’ with Damon [Lindelof, the co-creator],” continues Grunberg, whose credits on Abrams series include “Lost” and “Felicity,” “but I never hear him express regret like that.”
That’s really encouraging! A Star Wars film tends to burn people out and they need a chance to recharge their batteries for a while. Irvin Kirshner often said he didn’t want to give up another three years of his life to Star Wars but after seeing Return of the Jedi, he probably should have. As it stands now, Abrams is saying this next one sounds so good he wishes he had done it. That’s great news.
Grunberg who plays Snap Wexley says he filmed a lot of reaction shots for Star Wars: The Force Awakens but refused to say the line “I’ve been hit!” Snap lives!
