Alden Ehrenreich Going Solo for Han Solo: A Star Wars Story?
It’s been rumored for awhile now, but now Variety and Deadline are coming out and saying that Alden Ehrenreich will be playing Han Solo in Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s untitled 2018 Han Solo Star Wars spin-off film. Granted, it’s not official until Lucasfilm says so, but if the trades say so, it’s a pretty safe bet. Back before the casting announcement for The Force Awakens, they’d reported that Adam Driver was set to take the villain role in the film, which ended up being accurate. When and how Lucasfilm will break the news is anyone’s guess, but it is interesting that just days ago, Chris Miller tweeted an image of Han Solo’s blaster. Was he hinting that they’d found their man? Seems plausible in hindsight. As for Ehrenreich himself, I’ve yet to see him in anything, but he’s received some acclaim for his part in the Coen Brothers’ Hail! Caesar. If he’s good enough for the Coens, Lord, and Miller, he’s good enough for me.
