Another Familiar Ship Returning for Star Wars: Episode VIII!
The Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry have recently been visiting the Star Wars: Episode VIII sets at Pinewood Studios. Several pictures of them meeting director Rian Johnson, and cast members such as Mark Hamill, Daisy Ridley, and John Boyega have popped up online, but Ali Arikan has posted a most intriguing one to Twitter:

That certainly does resemble an A-wing, though not exactly like a version of the starfighter that we’re used to:
If anything, it reminds me of the difference between the X-wings of the Original Trilogy and those in The Force Awakens. In any case, it’s exciting to see the return of this class of starship!

To build on your observation on A-Wings, this prototype image of the new, yet unreleased, Bandai Japan A-Wing model features the rounded cockpit that the prince sat in.
