When hearing anything about Felicity Jones’ character name in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, it generally came down to her name being something like Seal Leader Green which is a pseudonym or code word for the production’s use. We have now learned of a new name that very well may be the name of the hero in Rogue One Felicity Jones will play. 

If this name is not a code name, Felicity Jones will play Jyn.

If the rumors are accurate, Jyn is the daughter of Galen but their last names are still unknown. It has been said more than once that her name is “something like Jenny or Ginny,” to me and it makes me ponder if there is a more endearing version of the name, like “Jynie” for instance?

The name has appeared in various places in Star Wars before. One such appearance was in Star Wars: Droids with a character named Jyn Obah. There was Jyn N’oram and Jyn Odan as well. It almost appears as if the name is a common name in the galaxy but the other names are Legends status now. Jyn from Rogue One may be the only canon Jyn. While it is a name seen before, it is unlikely most fans have any association with it in Star Wars before.

We think there’s a good chance this is the name and not a code. However, you can never tell as “Kira” was all over lots of things for Rey in The Force Awakens. We have heard Jyn is the name of the character with “Seal Leader Green” as her production code name. Only time will tell if this is the name of Felicity Jones in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story or if it is a clever code name.
