Kathleen Kennedy doesn’t think there will be a opening crawl for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
ET online caught up with Kathleen Kennedy at Star Wars Celebration Europe, and asked her the question most of us have been wondering: “Will there be a opening crawl for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story?” Well, here’s her answer:
“You know, we’re in the midst of talking about it, but I don’t think these films will have an opening crawl,” Kennedy said of the possibility that Rogue One would include the familiar Star Wars trope. “I think that’s what we kind of telegraphed at the beginning of the event today.”
It’s sounding like there will be no opening crawl for Rogue One. However Gareth Edwards had the following to say:
“I think basically there’s a lot of things that I probably can’t talk about, is probably the safest way to answer that,” he joked. “The idea is this film is supposed to be different than the saga films…the whole crawl of it all — it’s funny people are fascinated on that.”
I’m a little surprised that there will be no crawl. I always love hearing the main them blasting while I’m reading the plot of what we are about to experience. It’s so iconic for Star Wars films that I can’t imagine one without the crawl. I’m sure it will still turn out just fine, but I can’t deny that I’m a little disappointed that they’re cutting it out of the Star Wars Story films.
