Variety this morning has some new insider information on the casting process underway by Lucasfilm and Disney for the upcoming Han Solo Star Wars Anthology film. Previously we had heard that over 2500 actors had been seen for the part, and now Variety says that list has been thinned to about a dozen. Some of the names on the new list include:
Miles Teller, Ansel Elgort, Dave Franco, Jack Reynor, Scott Eastwood, Logan Lerman, Emory Cohen, and Blake Jenner.
Variety also says the role should be cast in the next few weeks, and that the reason for the speed is that insiders close to the situation think the new Solo could have a cameo in this year’s Rogue One, which still has a month of filming remaining on its schedule. Now that we’ve got some more solid names on the casting list, it looks like our Han Solo will be in his 20s.
I’m not super jazzed about any one of these choices, but I do think we’ve got some really talented young men on the list and I can’t wait to see who they choose.
Entertainment Weekly‘s Anthony Breznican has weighed in on the list:
I'm hearing the list is much larger than that & some of those names aren't actually on it. FWIW. https://t.co/TWxxVAweEU
