Mads Mikkelsen & Forest Whitaker’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story names?
Back in September a fan was given an autograph from Mads Mikkelsen and that autograph was signed “Galen.” It seemed like a pretty good indication that was to be Mikkelsen’s character’s name. Over the weekend we saw some things that indicated his name truly is “Galen” in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The name was very much in use during the production last year. It isn’t exactly huge news, but another brick in the wall of confirming the likelihood of “Galen.”
It is always weird to hear new character names from future Star Wars films. The question that always comes up revolves around codes and if that’s really the name of the character or not. With The Force Awakens we kept seeing “Kira” on things for “Rey.” It did turn out that Kira was an early choice for Rey’s name but was demoted to a pseudonym to protect the real name during the production of that film. “Galen” and “Krennic” have now come up as names from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story in the same pieces of evidence. It was nice to see Krennic outside the book we saw a while back. That book apparently has some names wrong but Krennic does not appear to be one of them.
While digging on “Galen” I came across a new name for Forest Whitaker’s character. Most of the codes for Whitaker were things like Eel Leader in the past. Now we have learned that people are calling him “Castro.” Forest Whitaker’s character appears to be named “Castro” in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, but until it’s confirmed, it very well could be another coded name.
The name will be weird for some considering the 89-year-old Fidel Castro, President of Cuba. Nonetheless, it is the name being used for Forest Whitaker’s character. The questions that remain: is it the name of his character on screen? Also, what connections does he have to Jyn and Cassien? Does he see action or just broker the hiring of assassins?
