The information below might be considered a spoiler by some. Spoilers for future Star Wars films could be below so read on at your own risk.
For some time there have been rumblings that Darth Vader would be in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. We have received our fair share of tidbits about it over the last year. Gary at FlickeringMyth is reporting they have the name of the actor who is playing Darth Vader in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story:
Our sources are telling us that in fact British actor Spencer Wilding has been cast to play the body of Darth Vader in Rogue One.
FlickeringMyth go on to add:
Our source also confirms that Wilding has been running lines while on set, so Darth Vader will have a speaking role in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
Spencer Wilding’s website describes him as having a really healthy height to play Vader:
Since he was a child, Spencer had always dreamed of becoming an actor. Lacking any clear route towards his ambition, and growing to be a robust 6’ 7” man, he became involved in ‘Kick-Boxing’ and eventually was crowned British-Welsh Champion. A photographer took a picture for Spencer’s mother’s mantelpiece and suggested that he approach an agent in London as he had a ‘great look’, thus the passion for acting was rekindled, advice taken and many major projects later, he is now considered to be one of the best in his specialisation of Special Creature performance today.
It sounds like he has the qualifications to play Darth Vader, that’s for sure. It sounds like this could be and probably is the guy. He’s a creature performer, the right height, and involved in films that makes him a good candidate to be known by the right people to get the gig. You can see the a list of the films he has done here.
