Star Wars Composer John Williams to Receive AFI Life Achievement Award
As reported by Variety, on June 9th, iconic Star Wars composer John Williams will be presented with the American Film Institute’s Life Achievement Award. It is the first time in the award’s 44-year history that the honor will be given to a composer.
Of particular note in the Variety story is what Williams plans to do next:
He plans to begin work on Spielberg’s next film, “Ready Player One,” in November, and then next year expects to do the next “Star Wars” film. “If I can do it, I certainly will. I told Kathy Kennedy I’m happy to do it, but the real reason is, I didn’t want anybody else writing music for Daisy Ridley,” he quips.
The MakingStarWars.net team members are understandably huge fans of Williams. The honor is well deserved and we certainly hope to hear more of his great work on Star Wars Episode VIII… and beyond!
