Star Wars: Episode VIII delayed until December 15th, 2017.
Borys Kit of Variety just tweeted that Star Wars: Episode VIII has been delayed until December 15th, 2017:
STAR WARS: EPISODE VIII release date change! Movie is pushed back 7 months, moving from May 26, 2017 to Dec. 15, 2017.

I've heard from several sources the rewrites are positive, based on audience reaction to the new characters. People loved them.

Moments later StarWars.com confirmed the release date. The release doesn’t cite a specific production reason and instead celebrates The Force Awakens success in December. This solves the issue of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story coming out within five months of Star Wars: Episode VIII’s release, which was complicating and confusing. It also explains the one-month production delay and the rumors circulating around it.
Update:
The Hollywood Reporter notes that Star Wars: Episode VIII will now open up against Ready Player One, a Spielberg film. They also note that the next Pirates of the Caribbean film will open in Star Wars’ previous May slot.
