Star Wars: Episode VIII to film in Croatia?
A few different people have dropped this same piece of news that Star Wars: Episode VIII will film in an interesting location. The location was used for HBO’s Game of Thrones as the King’s Landing locations. Apparently the location is really pleasant at which to shoot and offers tax breaks and incentives to new productions. The gist:
Star Wars: Episode VIII will film in Dubrovnik, Croatia later in the year.
Dubrovnik is a city in southern Croatia fronting the Adriatic Sea. It’s known for its distinctive Old Town, encircled with massive stone walls completed in the 16th century. Its well-preserved buildings range from baroque St. Blaise Church to Renaissance Sponza Palace and Gothic Rector’s Palace, now a history museum. Paved with limestone, the pedestrianized Stradun (aka Placa) is lined with shops and restaurants.
There are some Star Wars: Episode VII extrapolations we can make here, such as it is Ach-To. We’re not so sure just yet and are waiting on more details. Not the biggest news ever, but it is interesting to see what kinds of locations and worlds we may visit in the next thrilling chapter of Rey’s life.
