Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Death Squad’s laser light spectacular
Today I have learned a little tidbit on the Shadow Troopers of Death Squad in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. It isn’t anything huge but it is cool, I think. I was happy to learn this detail, so I assume you’re happy to learn it as well.
If you recall in the past we heard that the speaker nodes on the black stormtrooper mask were illuminated green. Now we’ve learned that they have a little green light near the eye. Imagine you put a pencil behind your ear. That’s where it rests on the new black stormtrooper helmet. Apparently in the film we might see it as some sort of targeting system.
Sort of like this but just on one side and the light is green:
It appears to be a part of some kind of targeting system for Death Squad. I can see a scenario where the heroes see a green light on them and they know they’re being targeted. At the same time, maybe they just need green light to see with the tech in their helmets. Unfortunately, the details on how its used are still vague.
I was talking to one person who believes there’s only one type of black stormtrooper in the film. They think the long-faced black trooper Donnie Yen posted in the only one we see but they said when you see it with the green lights on, it makes it look a little more like a classic stormtrooper just painted black (even though it really isn’t). That might be the cause for the confusion but I’m still getting conflicting reports on that from tried-and-true sources.
Also if you didn’t see it, we have details on the new enforcer droid from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
